- Thousands of deep-sky objects in your computer: 4,649 CCD images in their
- original 16-bit format, containing 1.3 GB of uncompressed data. Included are
- 5,002 individual galaxies, 284 galaxy clusters, 654 open clusters,
- 136 globular clusters, 155 planetary nebulae, 279 bright diffuse nebulae,
- 90 dark nebulae.

- For more complete information about the Buil-Thouvenot Atlas, please read
- BT.TXT (ASCII text file) and START.DOC (Microsoft Word document)
- (or START.PDF, Adobe Acrobat document) in the root directory of the CD-ROM.

- This CD-ROM contains 4 programs to explore the BT-Atlas:

- * BTNOVAE: A planetarium program for Windows 95 that allows you to look at
- the images from the BT-Atlas in their celestial context. By clicking on
- any of the icons that represent BT-Atlas objects, you will display the
- corresponding image. Executing the SETUP.EXE program in the BTNOVAE
- directory (via the Program Manager or Windows Explorer) will install
- BTNOVAE in the path you specify. To use the program, read the online help.

- * BTSHOW: A powerful 32-bit program that runs under Windows 95. To install
- BTShow, run the program INSTALL.EXE in the BTSHOW directory of the CD-ROM.
- To use the program, read the online help.

- * WinMiPS: A 16-bit program for Windows 3.1x and Windows 95. It allows you
- to consult the Atlas and to process images through various commands. It
- also allows you to modify the .INF files associated with the images. To
- install WinMiPS, run the program INSTALL.EXE in the WINMIPS directory of
- the CD-ROM. To use the program read the online help and the WINMIPS.TXT
- file in the same directory as the program.

- * QuickBT: A fast 32-bit MS-DOS program. To install QuickBT, run the
- INSTALL.BAT program in the QBT directory. The file QBT.TXT (ASCII format)
- contains information about the program.

- Hardware and software requirements:
- IBM PC-compatible 486/Pentium with VGA color monitor; super VGA (16 million
- colors) strongly recommended. Minimum 8 MB RAM; 16 MB recommended.CD-ROM drive.
